Our Story

Meet Claudia

Born from love. Built for connection.
Chatterbook began at our kitchen table not as a business idea, but as a heartfelt response to a very real need. My daughter, Claudia, is 20 and lives with an ultra-rare metabolic condition called CDG1e (Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation Type 1e).

Claudia is non-verbal, has developmental delays, and, like many people with complex needs, is supported by a team of carers, therapists, and family who all play a part in her daily life.

For years, we struggled to keep everyone on the same page. Medical journals were too clinical & ugly. Diaries were messy and unreliable. Apps were hit-and-miss and important details kept slipping through the cracks. What we really needed was something clear, consistent, and easy to use.
Something that brought people together.

That’s how Chatterbook came to life a practical, paper-based solution designed to help support teams communicate with clarity, confidence, and care. Today, it’s more than just a planner. It’s a tool for connection created with love and now shared with others walking a similar path.

So, I started designing ...

Designing With Purpose

It began with a vision not a background in product design, just a deep understanding of what was missing. I imagined a planner that belonged on the kitchen bench, not buried in a drawer. A space that felt joyful and welcoming full of colour, stickers, gel pens, and personality. A tool that encouraged accountability, collaboration, and compassion among everyone involved in care. I wanted it to be more than just practical. I wanted it to hold life tracking moods, meals, seizures, bowel movements, milestones, and moments that matter. A daily ritual that brings peace of mind to families and offers a window into the world of someone they love.

The Creation Process.

Chatterbook was shaped by real life trialled, tweaked, and tested right here at home.
We lived with it, adjusted it, and refined every page until it felt just right.
Chatterbook is not perfect no planner can capture every nuance of life with disability,
but it’s built with heart, lived experience, and a deep understanding of what matters
most.
It’s a tool created by someone who’s walked this path, for those who walk it every
day.

A gift from us to you.

For me, coming home after a long day and reading about Claudia’s day even the tiniest moments is a gift. It gives me something to talk to her about. It gives me peace.

Now, I hope it gives the same to you. A way to feel closer, stay connected, and share in the moments that matter most.

With love, Sim x
